My name is Michael Palotas. I have been drumming for over 30 years in many different bands and setups.

I started playing the trumpet at the age of 8. Soon, I (and others as well 🙂 ) realized that trumpet was just not my thing. So I started hammering away on my mom’s pots and pans and finally bought my first drum set at the age of 13. Never looked back since then.
My kit(s)
My main kit is a 4-piece Gretsch Brooklyn 22/13/16 along with a 14″x6.5″ Ludwig Black Beauty Snare and Meinl Byzance cymbals. I use Audix drum microphones for recording and live.

In my practice room, I play a Roland TD-27 edrum kit which I absolutely love (and I was very skeptical about edrums before I purchased the kit…).
I also have an old Pearl SLX which I sometimes pull out just for fun. A piece of advice: if you don’t keep your very first kit, you will regret it. Mine was a Sonor Champion that I sold to a classmate. Wish I had kept it.
